On Tuesday, August 21, Open Gate hosted a sold-out charity game night at Hamburger Mary’s. Every table in the restaurant was full, and people were lined up along the bar eating, drinking, playing games, and raising money for Open Gate.

As people started filling in the restaurant at 7:00 pm, Open Gate board members and volunteers greeted tables and sold 50/50 raffle tickets and trivia books. Guests also browsed the Give & Take auction table where they bid on prizes ranging from  wine baskets to movie tickets.

When the show started at 8:00, diners were welcomed by Houston drag performers, Lady Shamu and Veronica Strutts. The ladies entertained the crowd for more than an hour with trivia, crowd participation games, and lip sync performances. Both entertainers graciously donated their performance tips to Open Gate.

Because of the generous donations of the crowd and performers, Open Gate raised more than $2,800 during the event.
